So here it is… the proof.
So how do you drop down 17 million in Alexa rank? Well when I first starting blogging I had a vague idea about Alexa and the more I read about it the stranger picture I got. It seems, at least to me that all I had to do was install a toolbar and surf my website as much as I normally do checking things and like magic I’d get a better web ranking. Okay so Reddit may have given me a really good boost for a day.
Here’s a great post from Entrepreneurs Journey that explains all about Alexa and its ranking system:
How Does AlexaRank Work And Should You Pay It Any Attention?
Okay, so it measures traffic based on how many people with its toolbar installed visit your site, so its not completely accurate. If the majority of your visitors don’t have the toolbar you are going to have a bad ranking compared to someone else.
There are many other ways to improve your ranking through back-links, more traffic, and social networking.
Here is a really good article with tons of tips and advice on how to improve your Alexa ranking if your worried about it.

Why my link architecture is worse than cold spaghetti
I now know that 75% of my site isn’t linked to anything. I wrote for myself, I mean that’s what your “meant to do” and its really hard when you don’t have much content to see the need to link everything to something. Essentially my link architecture is pitiful. Maybe time to write my post titles into a spreadsheet and make sure everything links to at least something else. Making sure its something relevant or course. You know the first step is admitting it right.
Advice that makes you think
You know I was told years ago I should be an entrepreneur when I grow up ( I actually have to do that). For no apparent reason than it runs in the family. But does it?
So it got me thinking (which I seem to do a lot of these days).
-
-
- How do you be an entrepreneur if you don’t know what to entrepreneur about?
- Is being an entrepreneur a good life decision?
-
Yeah i know heaps of people have done really well with it, but is it really better than a stable 9 to 5 job. Whats a stable job anyway these days, apart from involving horses.
So I started writing ….
Why starting is the hardest part and the journey is way more important than the destination
Where to start, where to start, my dear, that’s the hardest part. You may have tons of ideas, you may have no ideas but deciding where to start with them is always a tricky decision.
-
-
- Do you start with the easiest idea and ease your way into something?
- Do you start with what challenges you the most?
- Makes the most potential money?
- Makes the greatest impact on the world, or your personal world?
-
Or is it a combination of the about 4 things.
Do we ever stop learning?

- That ranking doesn’t really matter, your awesome anyway. The only person you should compare yourself to is you.
- That a content plan is a really good idea and helps you make sure everything has its place.
- That advice sometimes gives you more questions than answers, and that’s okay.
- That I enjoy putting all my thoughts down on paper to help sort them from mumbo jumbo
- Enjoy the journey and don’t worry about the destination, it might change on the way.
- You can never have enough inspiration.
- That I’m obsessed with sunsets, water, animal pictures and finding words to go with them
- That the more you do something, the better you get at it
